Naturally Zimbabwean: Organic Teas

I had seen Petalilli Organic Herbal Teas in Food Lovers Market  and other shops, and I had always admired the packaging and I had even assumed it was an imported product.  I happened to meet Peta the lady behind the label at an event and she offered me to try the teas.. being a big tea drinker...I was keen to try and was pleasantly surprised... I like the wide variety of flavours and aromas. 'Petalilli Organic Herbal Teas are grown organically with love on a small farm outside Harare' . I believe that a cup of tea makes everything better...

Coffee @Pistachio Cafe

I decided to conclude my trip to Sam Levys with a quick coffee break at Pistachio, I believe that busy days are made better by a short break at a  lovely cafe. All the tables outside were taken so I settled for a table inside. Pistachio specializes in french pastries as well as many other sweet and savoury decadent treats.  On the upside, it felt warm and cozy inside... but the signs of  the beginings of a Zim winter are ever nearer...I  ended up ordering a chai Latte... and indulged in some  casual people watching in this cool corner of Sam Levys Village.

The following are their opening hours:
Mon-Friday 7.30am-5.30pm
Saturday 8.00am- 2.00pm
Sunday Closed

Coffee @ The Bottom Drawer

I'll admit to being obesessed with all things pretty and lovely and that is why The Bottom Drawer is one of my favourite coffee shops in Harare.  It has a lovely English country style garden and I  absolutely love the decor as well as the style of the furniture and the setting... for me it is the perfect spot to meet with friends for  a relaxing  afternoon or morning coffee.  I arrived  at the Bottom Drawer around mid-morning for a quick coffee break between my many errands. I ordered a capuccino and I could not resist ordering one of their many delightful home-made treats...a scone... I enjoyed my cappuccino and scone immensely...as I took in the the relaxed atmosphere. The Bottom Drawer also has an amazing gift shop where you can buy unique gift items for your loved ones.

The following are their opening hours:
Mon-Friday 8.30am-5.00pm
Saturday 8.30am- 3.00pm

The Jam Tree Market & Restaurant and Bar

I was invited to the Jam Tree market  some time ago and up until then I had never been there. I was pleasantly surprised to find a lively market with lots of interesting  and very well organized stalls.    The market takes place every Thursday 8.30am-12.00pm.  Aside from hosting the market, the Jam Tree is also a restaurant and bar. The Jam Tree is also a great place to meet for coffee, lunch or a drink. The next time a went there a few weeks later for Sunday lunch.. I ordered their gourmet chips and absolutely loved them! They had a lovely sour cream flavour that is truly irresistible!!!

Opening Hours:  Mon - Sunday 9.00am-12.00am

Experience real Italian cooking at Little Eataly

I had occasion to go out to eat after a friend with whom I'm working on a project suggested we go and see the new restaurant, that her friends recently opened at Doone Estate, called Little Eataly. I had not been to Donne Estate in a very long time... so I thought, why not give it a try?  We arrived just after lunch, although we had not had lunch I was resisting ordering anything... but I liked the look of the place... a very relaxed rustic setting...we sat on the cool airy varandah and the smiling hostess came to greet us... before long she managed to talk me into ordering a vegetable tart... and it was really unexpectedly good!!! I will definitely order it next time..

At Little Eataly they make their own fresh pasta and they have a large variety of Italian dishes on their, menu. So if you are lover of Italian food this one place you should certainly try.

Opening Times:
Monday-Saturday: 8am-5pm
Dinners: Wednesday-Saturday

Get a taste of the best coffee in town @ Freshly Ground

If you are a coffee addict like myself, you need to pay Freshly Ground in Sam Levy’s a visit,  It’s a great place to just meet up with friends for a relaxing coffee break or to go and get some work done.  Although they have a limited menu consisting of cakes, muffins, sandwiches and biscuits, they focus on what they do best which is make great coffee and they really deliver on that…  I love this place for one other reason, I am simply in love with the décor…Amazing attention to detail and just the right combination of colours, textures and patterns creating the perfect atmosphere…plus a few quirky touches.  Unlike other cafes in Harare where you have to order your coffee at the counter, pay and they make it right there and you can collect it and find a seat, but that does not take away from the experience of the place or the coffee.

Opening Hours
Mon-Friday: 7.00am-6.00pm
Saturday:    9.00am -3.00pm
Sunday:      9.00am-1.00pm
